Coil Innovation, the leader in the air-core dry-type technology has successfully type tested its first 420kV air-core dry-type shunt reactor, which will be delivered to a German Transmission System Operator.
Two series-connected stacked reactors, totally rated 40 MVar, form a complete phase arrangement. On this set of reactors, a negative wet lightning impulse test and a wet chopped wave impulse test according to IEC 60076-6 demonstrated the reliability and safety of Coil Innovation’s design. A wet switching impulse test and a power frequency withstand voltage test on the support insulators also showed that the design and construction of this single phase is ready for its intended purpose.
Coil Innovation will supply a total of 6 three-phase sets to Germany to support the “Energiewende” with these high-quality air-core shunt reactors.
