Across an area of 1,600 m\u00b2, COIL thus provides ideal conditions for precise, reproducible, and standards-compliant testing of modern air-cooled, dry-type reactors\u2014up to the highest performance class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-h4\"><strong>Built for major challenges<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new test hall, approximately 20 meters high and largely constructed without metal materials, was specifically designed for testing large-dimensioned, high-performance air-core reactors. Two powerful 40-ton crane systems, along with several smaller lifting and transport units, enable the safe and precise handling of even the heaviest test objects. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks to this infrastructure, even complex and customer-specific test setups can be implemented efficiently, flexibly, and in accordance with the highest safety standards. The hall therefore provides ideal conditions to reliably meet future requirements in the field of high-voltage, power, and acoustic testing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-h4\"><strong>High-voltage expertise<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>State-of-the-art systems are available for electrical testing in the high-voltage range:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Impulse voltage generator up to 2.4 MV and turn-to-turn overvoltage testing up to 200 kV.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>AC test transformer with 400 kV RMS \/ 50 Hz.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>AC series compensation for shunts up to 130 kV<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-h4\"><strong>High-capacity load testing<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A powerful system is available for realistic thermal testing:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Testing with variable-frequency AC from 47\u201360 Hz, up to 72 kV and 4000 A, with a total capacity of 150 MVAr, compensated directly on site.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>DC testing up to 5000 A and 220 V.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Temperature monitoring via a fiber-optic temperature measurement system, thermal imaging cameras, and vibration measurement.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This enables a reliable assessment of thermal loads under realistic grid and application conditions, as well as the safe validation of permissible limit ranges.<br\/> <br\/> <br\/><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-h4\"><strong>Precise acoustic measurement<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>State-of-the-art sound and vibration measurement systems are available for analyzing acoustic and mechanical behavior, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Laser vibrometer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Facilities for generating harmonic overtones with currents up to 300 A and mechanical frequencies up to 2,000 Hz.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>High-precision microphones as well as sound intensity measurement.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This enables resonance effects, vibration modes, and acoustic emissions to be analyzed in high resolution, evaluated, and specifically avoided or absorbed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-h4\"><strong>Precise loss measurement<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The dedicated testing area for high-precision loss measurements has been largely constructed without metal in order to consistently minimize disturbing influences from eddy currents and magnetic coupling, thereby ensuring the highest measurement accuracy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This enables the test laboratory to cover an exceptionally broad range of testing\u2014from development, design, and verification tests through to type and routine tests for air-core reactors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the technical equipment, particular emphasis was placed on safety.
